Writing for myself, I tend to slip into jargon and paraphrase - to engage with readers who may have never heard of Traveller I have to balance how much to explain against how much it will slow down my narrative. So, it has been an interesting learning exercise.Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14192928573798426693noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899408099257648174.post-15776497203452826512012-04-24T11:03:24.048+12:002012-04-24T11:03:24.048+12:00Exactly what I love about Traveller - I have run W...Exactly what I love about Traveller - I have run Western-themed games, Tales of a Thousand and One Nights, Film noir French gangster themes, Napoleonic Romance, Horror, mystery - any genre you can think of can slip into a Traveller game as flavour as the players visit planets with different technology levels and cultures.Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14192928573798426693noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899408099257648174.post-56396885382117263242012-04-24T10:58:39.190+12:002012-04-24T10:58:39.190+12:00Agreed about T20 - The rules are ok but the experi...Agreed about T20 - The rules are ok but the experience point/level thing (with level titles, if I recall correctly) was so D&D that it dilutes the science fiction flavour. Some good adventures and supplements written for it by Martin Doherty (not Mark D, I hasten to clarify), and a very good fanzine called Stellar Reaches at http://stellarreaches.nwgamers.org/ explored a large section of Gateway Sector and the Empty Quarter.Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14192928573798426693noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899408099257648174.post-4150605135780322782012-04-24T10:16:34.419+12:002012-04-24T10:16:34.419+12:00So interesting. Whatever mechanics you prefer, or aspect of the setting piques your interest, they combine to allow you to be a 'Traveller'.Paul O'Ghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08611720164170399684noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3899408099257648174.post-68677837606448435602012-04-23T22:50:51.182+12:002012-04-23T22:50:51.182+12:00For me, Traveller is wholly the setting. Interestingly, the least congenial conjunction (to me) has been Traveller d20 (T20). That system feels more shoe-horned than most.Peter Fitzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17675284304482852740noreply@blogger.com
